ABSENCES: PLEASE NOTIFY THE SCHOOL OFFICE IF YOUR CHILD WILL BE ABSENT
Parents are to call the school by 9:00 AM if a student is absent. The phone number to report absences is as follows: 318-6600 or 942-0047. If a student is absent more than one day, request for school work may be made by parents calling the school office before 10:00 AM. The work may be picked up in the office after 3:10 PM.
If a student is absent from school due to illness or an emergency, upon his return to school he must submit a note from his parent to the teacher or office explaining his absence. Parents are required to state the reason for their absence in writing and have the child deliver the statement to the teacher when he/she returns. This written note indicates your child has been in your care and is a precaution, assuring us that you are aware of his/her absence. The information you give also aids in determining the health of your child. We will appreciate your cooperation with the school in protecting the health and safety of your child.
After five absences (not necessarily consecutive days), a student may be required to have a medical note from a doctor or the district school nurse in order for the absence to be excused. In the event a medical excuse is required, failure to secure one will result in an unexcused absence.
If a student is tardy to school he should report to the office for an admittance slip.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact the White Oak office at 942-0047.
