Our Accelerated Reader program allows each student to grow as a reader at his or her level. An individual reading inventory (STAR) is administered to each student. This provides information to the teacher for your child's independent reading level. The teacher will set an AR goal for him or her. Immediately after finishing a book, your child will take an AR test on a computer.
To provide the maximum possibility for growth, we want students to score between 85% and 92% on their tests for each book. Repeated 100's indicated the books are too easy. Scores in the 70's or lower are too difficult or frustrating for the reader.
